Do Now#1:  WRITE YOUR QUOTE ON A POST-IT

  •  Read/Reread the first chapter/section of your book club text. 

  • Identify one quote that reveals something important about the historical time period, characters or setting.  

    • Find a backup quote too

  • Round #1 (10 min) – What was one quote that reveals something important about the historical time period, characters or setting in your book club book?  

    • If someone says yours, share your backup quote.
  • Round #2 (5 min) – Discussion Go Around

    • From the evidence, you’ve collected so far and your discussion in round 1- discuss as a group how you feel the time period will affect the way your characters will act and behave.

  • Group Work-

    • Fill out Session 1 in your book group packet.

      • Vocabulary worth watching
      • Stick your post-it into establishing the time period. 
    • Fill out your Session 1 Reflection.

  • Homework if not finished in class.
